Hi! I’m Jacinta

I’m a psychologist with a passion for supporting young people navigating the challenges of adolescence and early adulthood. Having grown up in the Territory, I’ve always felt a strong connection to the unique experiences and struggles in our community.

Whether you’re seeking to lighten a burden, improve your relationships, or inspire personal growth, my mission is to walk alongside you on your mental health journey. I believe in the power of collaboration and am committed to helping you discover your strengths, understand your experiences, and achieve lasting change.

My approach is rooted in creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can freely express your thoughts and emotions. I value authenticity, warmth, and openness, and I aim to foster an environment where you feel heard, understood, and supported.

Therapy Types

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps you identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours that contribute to emotional distress. The core idea behind CBT is that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are all interconnected, and changing one can influence the others.

    CBT teaches you to:

Recognise unhelpful thoughts that may be fuelling your emotional struggles.

Challenge and Reframe unhelpful thoughts and replace them with more realistic, balanced thinking.

    Change unhelpful behaviours, like avoidance.

Build coping strategies, like problem-solving, relaxation techniques, and stress management skills, to help you manage difficult emotions and situations.

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) helps you manage intense emotions and improve relationships by teaching you practical skills. It combines acceptance with making positive changes in your life.

DBT works by teaching you skills to manage emotions, handle stress, and improve relationships. It focuses on four key areas:

Mindfulness: Helping you stay present and aware of your thoughts and feelings without judgment.

Emotional Regulation: Learning how to manage intense emotions and reduce emotional pain.

Distress Tolerance: Building skills to cope with difficult situations without making things worse.

Interpersonal Effectiveness: Teaching you how to communicate clearly and set healthy boundaries in relationships.

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a type of psychotherapy that encourages you to accept difficult thoughts and feelings rather than trying to avoid or fight them. It focuses on increasing psychological flexibility—helping you stay present and take action based on your values, even in the face of discomfort.

    ACT teaches you to:

Accept your thoughts and emotions without judgment.

Commit to actions that align with your core values, even when it’s hard.

Be present by practicing mindfulness and focusing on the here and now.

The goal of ACT is not to eliminate negative thoughts or feelings, but to help you live a richer, more meaningful life, even when facing life's challenges.
